Today I'm linking up with a wonderful party over at http://justatouchofgray.blogspot.com/ where this ENTIRE week is being dedicated to all things WEDDING!!! Right up my alley as you know. I know everyone will be new since I'm just opening this blog back up to the public. So WELCOME, I hope you stick around to join me on the "road to becoming Mrs. Hammond".

We were engaged on April 9, 2011 and I already knew I wanted to take engagement pictures since we had never taken professional pictures together before.  I had no idea about who I wanted to be our wedding photography, but a friend of mine told me to look on Craig's List to find a cheap photographer for our pictures. So I searched and I searched and I finally found someone that was running a deal for engagement pictures. I contacted her www.keishknightphotogapghy.com, we met up and made plans on the where, when and what to wear. After plans were made these FABULOUS pictures were taken and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!

Cake Tasting (Take 1)

I'm very excited because tomorrow we will be going on the first cake tasting! I LOVE LOVE LOVE sweet treats. We will be meeting with a friend of mine from high school who is an extraordaniary pastery chef. Her name is Jessica Ashley you can find her at http://www.jacakes.com/. She has done so many great cakes in the few years she has been working. She's done work with MTV, VH1, Keith Sweat and many others. I've had the opportunity to buy a cupcake tower for my sorority sisters baby shower and everyone LOVED IT! I'll also be getting some sugar cookies from her to go on our sweets table. I'll be taking some pictures with us so she can get an idea of what I'm looking for. Below are some of the pictures I'll be taking with me.

Don't you just love all of those cakes? I know I do! I can't wait to taste her selection of cakes. Though I won't be choosing a cake tomorrow I know I'll be having fun. Next week we will be visiting another bakery. This wedding planning is sooooo much fun!!!

I get a get feeling everytime I visit (which may or may not be atleast 3 or 4 time a week). Visit the site, take time to look around and for heavens sake sign the guest book people!!!!

We Bought Our First HOME!!!

I haven't blogged here in a VERY long time. Mostly because I've been super busy with work and school. But the other part of the equation is we started getting serious about buying a house and most of my free time was dedicated to making that happen.

In October Skip's aunt told us about this house one of her client told her about. This client really liked the house but she wanted the seller to go down on the price. So, once Auntie showed us the house I liked it but I wasn't in love. Mostly because there was only 1.5 baths and I was set with the idea of having 2 whole bath and possibly a half bath in the basement. That was another thing the basement was not finished!!! Hated that fact! Days went on and I keep finding myself coming back to this house on redfin.com. After the third day I called our realtor and told him we wanted to see this house. He set up the viewing for a Tuesday. Tuesday comes and I'm super excited about finally going into the house. I got off at four o'clock, the appointment was for four forty-five and Skip was going to meet us at the house at five o'clock after he got off. Well at four thirty Skip calls me and says he has to stay at work later than he thought, something came up. I was bummed but went to look at the house anyway.

When I pulled up to the house I fell in LOVE!!! The out side of the house was AMAZING. BEST HOUSE ON THE BLOCK!!! But OMGosh once I got inside I just knew this was the house for us!!! I was so excited. Everything had been remodeled. The layout was perfect and I was just in LOVE! Well I was in love with just about everything EXCEPT that the half bath was in the kitchen. I mean really who puts a bathroom in the kitchen. I still don't like this about the house but EVERYTHING else is lovely.

So I see this house on Tuesday, after leaving I went to Skips job because I HAD to tell him about it!!! I mean I was head over hills in LOVE! He saw my excitement and asked me to set up another viewing so he could see the house. Called the realtor back and set up the next viewing for the next day Wednesday. Skip got to the house and he didn't really seem like he was in love. He was talking about crazy stuff like the floors squeaking, needing to repaint certain spots in the house. Once we left the house I was in tears because he didn't love the house as much as I did. I was MAD!

Skip met me at my parents house to talk about the house. He said he liked the house and the price was great he just didn't like that there were people standing on the block that didn't look like the belonged there. He said we should pray on it and if I still felt like it was the house for us we could put in an offer on Friday. I was STILL mad I felt like by Friday someone else would see what a great house it was an we would lose it. He went on to say that if someone else got the house then it wasn't meant for us anyway. Which was true so I agreed to his terms.

Friday came and we put in a offer. Our offer was accepted on Monday morning! The inspection went great and we began the long process of getting our loan approved. Everything started in the second week of October and we closed on December 2, 2011!
